The Kenwood TR-2500 launched in 1981, continuing the handheld lineup with an LCD display and ten battery-backed RAM memory channels. It switches between 2.5 watts and 300 milliwatts of output and covers 144-146 MHz (Europe) or up to 148 MHz (USA) depending on version. Programmable band scan, memory scan and a tunable subaudible tone encoder were part of its feature set. The TR-2500 is considered a more refined, everyday-usable evolution of Kenwood's early synthesizer handhelds.
