Terms of use
This English version is provided for convenience only. In the event of any discrepancy, the German version shall prevail.
1. Scope
These terms govern the use of TRXguide (trxguide.com), operated by Mathias Bitsch, Markesche Str. 15 A, 06779 Raguhn-Jeßnitz, Germany (hereinafter "we"). They apply to all visitors and, to the extent of sections 3 to 8, additionally to registered members.
By registering you agree to these terms.
2. What TRXguide is
TRXguide is a community-maintained, freely accessible collection of radio equipment. It covers devices from amateur radio, business radio, inland waterway radio, CB radio, aviation radio, Freenet, PMR and marine radio. The information comes from public sources and from members.
TRXguide is not a dealer, does not broker sales and does not offer technical advice. There is no entitlement to have a particular device included.
Reading the site is possible without an account and free of charge. Contributing is likewise free of charge.
3. Account
- You may create an account if you are at least 16 years old. If you are younger, you need the consent of your parent or guardian.
- Please provide a valid e-mail address when registering. The account is only activated once you confirm it via the link we send you.
- Your display name appears publicly alongside your contributions. Your e-mail address is not shown publicly. Do not choose a name that infringes the rights of others, is offensive, or falsely suggests an identity (such as someone else’s call sign or a manufacturer name).
- Keep your password safe and do not pass it on. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.
- One account per person is intended.
- You can delete your account at any time (My account → Delete account). What happens to your contributions in that case is set out in section 8 and in the privacy policy.
4. Your contributions
As a member you can contribute:
- discussion posts and comments
- photographs of equipment
- links to videos, data sheets, circuit diagrams and drivers
- suggestions for new devices, and corrections to descriptions and technical details
- star ratings (possible without an account too)
Technical limits apply as protection against misuse, currently:
- no more than 20 discussion posts per day per member
- no more than 20 videos per device in total
We may adjust these limits if operation requires it.
5. Rights in your content
The rights in your content remain with you. You do not give them up.
So that we may display your contribution at all, by submitting it you grant us a simple, royalty-free right, unlimited in territory and time, to store the content on TRXguide, make it publicly accessible and process it technically for display (for example to reduce the size of images or convert them to another file format). The right is non-exclusive — you remain free to use your content as you wish.
By submitting content you warrant:
- that you hold the necessary rights in the content — in the case of photographs, that you took them yourself or are otherwise entitled to dispose of them (you must confirm this expressly on upload),
- that no third-party rights stand in the way, in particular no copyright, trademark or personality rights,
- that any persons depicted consent to publication.
Do not upload manufacturer manuals, data sheets or circuit diagrams as your own file. Link to the original source instead — the site is set up for precisely that.
If it turns out that content infringes rights, we will remove it. If a claim is brought against us because of content you have posted, you will indemnify us against justified claims to the extent that you are responsible for the infringement.
6. Rules for contributions
The following in particular are not permitted:
- unlawful, offensive, discriminatory or threatening content
- advertising, offers of sale and spam
- third-party content without permission (see section 5)
- personal data of third parties, such as names, addresses or photographs without their consent
- instructions for operation that contravenes applicable radio regulations — for example for extending transmit power or frequency ranges beyond what is permitted
- contributions that are off topic or that wilfully corrupt the collection
Keep it factual. This is about technology.
7. Review and approval
We review new photographs, videos, links and device suggestions before publication. Star ratings likewise only appear once we have reviewed them. Discussion posts generally appear immediately; if they contain a link, they too are reviewed first.
Anyone who has proved reliable — currently from five approved contributions onwards — has their contributions published without prior review. A badge or experience level may then appear next to their name.
There is no entitlement to publication. We may reject or shorten contributions if they breach section 6 or are factually incorrect. This does not entail any obligation to monitor all content.
8. Breaches
If you breach these terms we may — depending on the severity —
- remove individual contributions,
- withdraw the right to upload new photographs or submit devices,
- suspend or delete the account and block the e-mail address from registering again.
In the case of serious breaches we may do so without prior notice. If you believe a measure was taken wrongly, write to us at info@trxguide.com.
If you notice a contribution that breaches these rules, please use the report button.
Discussion posts already published remain in place, even if you delete your account — otherwise other members’ replies would lose their context. Your display name is replaced by "Deleted member", and the posts can no longer be attributed to any person afterwards.
9. Device information, liability
The technical details may be incomplete or incorrect. They come from various sources of differing quality, and many devices are decades old. We strive for accuracy but cannot guarantee it. Do not rely on this site alone before making a purchase decision or working on a device.
Whether you may operate a device depends solely on the law applicable to you — not on what is written here. For amateur radio you need a valid licence; for CB, PMR and marine radio, frequencies, transmit power and modes are limited by law, and the rules differ from country to country. The fact that a device is described here does not mean that operating it is permitted where you are. That responsibility rests with you.
In all other respects we are liable without limitation in cases of intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. In cases of ordinary negligence we are liable only for breach of a material obligation whose fulfilment is what makes proper use possible in the first place, and then limited in amount to the foreseeable, typical damage.
Members are themselves responsible for content they have posted. We do not adopt it as our own.
10. Third-party links
The site links to third-party websites, for example to manufacturer downloads or videos. We have no influence over their content and accept no responsibility for it. When you click such a link you leave TRXguide; the terms of the provider concerned then apply.
11. Availability
We endeavour to run a reliable service but do not owe any particular level of availability. Maintenance, faults or further development may lead to interruptions. There is no entitlement to the permanent existence of the site or of individual features.
12. Changes to these terms
As the site develops we may adapt these terms. We will inform registered members of material changes in good time beforehand by e-mail or by a notice on the site. If you do not object within 4 weeks or continue to use the site, the changes are deemed accepted. If you do object, you can delete your account.
13. Final provisions
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. If any provision of these terms is invalid, the remaining provisions are unaffected.
