Description

The Yaesu VR-5000 is a desktop receiver that, from 2000 onward, covers an extremely wide frequency range from 0.1 to 2600 MHz in AM, FM, SSB and CW. It offers a real-time band scope, dual-VFO operation and CAT computer control, aimed at serious shortwave listeners and scanner users. Early production units reportedly had some teething problems that were addressed in later hardware and firmware revisions.
